City-wide plastic ban muling ipatutupad sa QC simula sa March 1

Muling ipapatupad ang City-wide plastic ban sa lungsod ng Quezon simula sa March 1, 2021.

Ang naturang ordinansa ay unang ipinatupad noong January 2020, subalit sinuspinde noong May 2020 dahil sa pag-iral ng Localized Guidelines para sa Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

Ayon kay QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, kailangan nang isulong ang pagtugon ng pamahalaang lungsod sa global movement upang mabawasan ang plastic wastes.

“There is a pressing need to strengthen the City’s efforts in response to the global movement to reduce plastic wastes. Our call to action is also in fulfillment of the City’s international commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase climate resilience. With the re-implementation of the plastic bag ban, we hope to promote sustainable practices in the city,” ani Belmonte.

Sa ilalim ng memorandum ng alkalde, lahat ng shopping malls, supermarkets, fast food chains, drug stores at iba pang retailers na rehistrado sa Business Permits and Licensing Department ay hindi na dapat gumamit ng plastic bags.

Kailangan aniyang magdala ng reusable bags ang mga customer,

Papayagan pa sa ngayon ang pagpapagamit ng brown paper bags sa groceries at iba pang retail stores.

Pero simula sa 2022, bawal na din ito sa ilalim ng full implementation ng ordinansa.

Samantala, simula sa July 1, 2021 hindi na din papayagan ang mga disposable at single-use plastics sa mga restaurant at hotel para sa dine-in transactions.

Inatasan ang pamunuan ng restaurants at hotels na magsumite ng kanilang transition plans, kabilang ang health and safety protocols, sa EPWMD bago mag-May 31, 2021.

Para sa food delivery at take away orders, inaatasan ang mga food establishment na magkaroon ng “By-request protocol”, kung saan tatanungin muna ang customers kung kailangan ba nila ng single-use plastic utensils at condiment sachets bago ito ibigay.
