Mahigit 270 riders na mas mababa sa 400cc ang motorsiklo nahuli sa CAVITEX noong buwan ng Enero
Tumataas ang bilang ng mga motoristang lumalabag sa Limited Access Facility Act o mas kilala sa tawag na Republic Act 2000 na nagbabawal sa pagpasok ng mga motorsiklo na may makina na mas mababa sa 400cc sa mga expressways kabilang rito ang Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), CAVITEX C5 Link Segment, at Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) ng Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), ang subsidiary ng Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC).
Pinapayuhan ang mga motorista na sundin ang RA 2000 kasunod nang naitalang pagpasok ng mga motorsiklo na mas mababa sa 400cc sa high-speed road network CAVITEX kung saan simula noong Enero 1 hanggang 31, 2023 ay umabot sa 273 na motorcycle riders ang pinigil ng security patrolmen sa CAVITEX entry points.
“Motorcycle usage experienced an uptick in 2020 when our country succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic, and we do recognize the benefits that this development has brought – both in ride-sharing and logistics services. A reminder to our motorcycle community that CAVITEX and CALAX are declared by the DOTr through their Department Order (D.O) 2007-15 DESIGNATION AND DECLARATION OF ALL EXPRESSWAYS AS LIMITED ACCESS FACILITIES, and as such will only allow Motorcycles 400cc and above. Expressways are high-speed road facilities, and we aim for all our motorists to be safe while using our network of toll roads, we encourage them to follow the signs and speed limits,” sabi ni MPT South president Raul L. Ignacio.
Pinapaalalahanan ang mga mababa sa 400cc motorcycle riders na gumamit ng ‘two-wheeler’ o ‘motorcycle’ mode kung gagamit ng GPS navigation app upang maiwasang dumaan sa iba’t ibang expressways patungo sa destinasyon.
“Aside from intensifying our security and traffic operations, we will continue to reach and educate drivers thru our ‘Drayberks’ road safety seminar that will roll out in selected communities of NCR and CALABARZON this Q1 of 2023,” dagdag ni Ignacio.
Bukod dito, sa ilalim ng RA 2000 ay ipinagbabawal din ang pagpasok ng mga tricycle,bisikleta, oversized at kakarag-karag na sasakyan at pedestrians o mga tumatawid sa expressways. Ang mga lalabag ay huhulihin. (Bhelle Gamboa)
