Globe pinaigting ang kampanya vs child porn; 278,555 web links at domains, na-block

Hinarang ng nangungunang digital solutions platform Globe ang may 278,555 URLs at domains hosting child pornography mula January hanggang September ngayong taon.

Ang bilang, isang record high, at sumasakop lamang sa huling tatlong quarters ng taon, ay kumakatawan sa 1,132.5% pagtaas mula sa 2021 full year total na 22,371.

Sa kabuuan, na-block ng kompanya ang 2,835 domains na nagtatampok sa child pornography mula January hanggang September ngayong taon bilang bahagi ng masidhing commitment nito na tugunan ang dumaraming mga kaso ng Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) sa bansa.

“Globe wants to keep the public safe online, especially children and the youth who are most vulnerable to online predators. This is why we are actively supporting government efforts to restrict access to illegal sites like those containing child pornography by blocking malicious websites and URLs,” wika ni Globe Chief Privacy Officer Irish Salandanan-Almeida.

“We are relentless in boosting our capabilities to detect and block child pornography pages and other online content that are harmful to our customers. The astounding number of links we are able to block shows that our vigilance and security efforts have been effective even as we observe a rising number of these lewd and malicious content online,” pahayag ni Globe Chief Information and Security Officer Anton Bonifacio.

Ang inisyatibo ay alinsunod sa Republic Act 9775 o ang Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 na nag-aatas sa lahat ng internet service providers (ISPs) na maglagay ng technology, programs, o software para matiyak na mahaharang ang access sa o transmittal ng child pornography.

Bahagi rin ito ng commitment ng Globe sa United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, kabilang ang SDG No. 3, na nagsusulong sa maayos na kalusugan at kagalingan para sa lahat.

Sa isang pag-aaral na pinangunahan ng US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) ay lumabas na kabilang ang Pilipinas sa world’s leading sources ng content na nakaugat sa OSAEC.

Nauna nang nag-invest ang Globe ng $2.7 million sa content filtering systems na humaharang sa websites at imagery na nagsusulong ng child pornography, illegal gambling, at online piracy. (DDC)
