Coast Guard naka-heightened alert na para sa paggunita ng Undas

Kasado na ang paghahanda ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) para sa paggunita ng Undas ngayong taon.

Inatasan ni PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio Abu, ang lahat ng operating units ng PCG na sumailalim na sa “heightened alert” simula ngayong araw, Oct. 24 hanggang sa November 3, 2022.

Inaasahan kasi ng PCG ang pagdagsa ng mga pasahero sa mga pantalan para gunitain ang Undas sa mga lalawigan.

Inaasahan din ang pagbiyahe ng mga turista dahil sa long weekend.

“Our PCG Districts conduct 24/7 operations to monitor nautical highways routes, especially in the Visayas where the majority of tourist destinations are situated. I have instructed concerned units to ensure maritime security and safety in our western and eastern seaboards, as well as inter-island routes. Our deployable response groups (DRGs) and PCG Auxiliary volunteers are also augmenting these operations,” ayo kay Abu.

Ayon kay Abu, may mga nakatalaga nang maritime safety inspectors sa mga port terminals, law enforcement teams sa mga strategic locations, maritime patrol teams sa mga critical vicinity waters, at may mga naka-standby ding tauhan sakaling kailanganin ang pagsasagawa ng search and rescue operations kung may maitatalang maritime incidents o emergencies.

Pinaigting din ng PCG ang pagsasagawa ng vessel safety and security inspections. (DDC)
