Joint maritime exercise ng Philippine at US Coast Guard isinagawa sa Subic

Nagdaos ng joint maritime exercise ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at ang United States Coast Guard (USCG) sa karagatang sakop ng Subic Bay, Zambales.

Lumahok sa pagsasanay sa panig ng PCG ang mga unit na nasa ilalim ng Task Force Pagsasanay kabilang ang BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301, BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407), BRP Capones (MRRV-4404), PCG-manned Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) vessel, BRP Lapu-Lapu (MMOV-5001), at ang airbus helicopter na CGH-1451.

Sa panig ng USCG, lumahok sa pagsasanay ang USCG Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) at ang Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) na Scan Eagle.

Nagsagawa ng pagsasanay ang PCG at USCG hinggil sa vessel communication, search and rescue (SAR), small boat operation, multi-vessel maneuvering, at emergency response operation sa mga distressed situation gaya ng sunog sa barko.

Ayon sa PCG, malaking tulong ang pagsasanay upang makapagbahagi ng kaalaman sa isa’t isa ang magkabilang panig.

Sinabi ni Coast Guard Commandant, Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr. na ang ugnayan sa USCG ay malaking tulong sa modernisasyon ng PCG.

“The success of the joint maritime exercise between the PCG and USCG will not only strengthen international partnerships for immediate response to calamities and disasters but will also ensure that our personnel could effectively perform their mandated functions in countering terrorism and other acts of lawlessness in our country’s waters,” ayon kay Ursabia.
