P1.2B na halaga ng mga ipinagbabawal na vape at mga pekeng produkto, natuklasan isang warehouse sa Malabon
Ipinasara ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (BOC-CIIS) ang isang warehouse sa Malabon City na naglalaman ng tinatayang P1.2 billion na halaga ng ipinagbabawal na vapes at mga pekeng produkto.
Kabilang sa nakumpiska sa warehouse ang disposable vape brands, mga sapatos, bags, at cosmetics.
Paalala ni BOC Commissioner Bien Rubio mag-ingat sa mga binibili dahil ang mga pekeng produkto ay maaaring may banta sa kalusugan.
“We see here some fake cosmetics being sold as branded goods. So, if these goods did not go through the proper testing and licensing, imagine the risk you are taking. Unfortunately, the global marketplace allows access to these goods, which unscrupulous vendors sell to unsuspecting customers. They profit from these at the risk of consumers’ health and safety,” ayon kay Rubio.
Samantala, ipinaliwanag ni CIIS Director Verne Enciso, na ang pag inspeksyon nila sa warehouse sa Barangay Tanong, Malabon City ay kasunod ng inisyung Letter of Authority (LOA) ni Rubio.
Nadiskubre ng mga ahente nf CIIS-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) ang mga disposable vape brand na Kylinbar na walang ICC stickers mula sa Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
May mga nakita ding brand ng sapatos gaya ng Nike, New Balance, at Adidas, Apple AirPods at headsets, at mga pekeng luxury bags gaya ng Louis Vuitton at Gucci.
May nakita ding appliances, garments, cosmetics, household products, at iba pang general merchandise sa,loob ng warehouse.
“Upon receiving information about this warehouse, we completed the necessary paperwork and coordinated with relevant units and agencies. Fortunately, our Commissioner promptly issued the LOA, allowing us to inspect the warehouse today,” ayon kay Enciso.
Katuwang ng CIIS-MICP team ang Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa pagsisilbi ng LOA.
Kaugnay nito ay umapela din si BOC Deputy Commissioner for the Intelligence Group Juvymax Uy sa publiko sa hindi magandang dulot ng pagtangkilik sa mga pekeng produkto.
Sinabi ni Uy na lalo kasing lalakas ang loob at lalong kikita ang mga negosyanteng sangkot sa ilegal na gawain kung patuloy silang tinatangkilik ng mga consumer.
“While buying fake goods may seem like a bargain, we want to remind the public that it only fuels the criminals more. These are the same enterprises that get involved in money laundering, forced labor, and some even in organized crime. Smuggling is only the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more that goes underneath this crime, so we need to stop where the money is coming from,” ayon kay Uy.
Pansamantalang ipinasara ang warehouse at itinakda ang pagsasagawa ng imbentaryo sa mga produkto sa loob nito.
Ang may-ari naman ng warehouse at operator nito ay mayroong 15-araw para maipakita ang mga dokumento na magpapatunay lehitimo ang pag-aangkat sa mga produkto at binayaran ang karampatang buwis na itinatakda sa ilalim ng Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Kung bigong maisumite ang mga dokumento ay maaari silang maipagharap ng kasong paglabag sa Section 117 at Section 1400 ng CMTA.
Maaari din silang masampahan ng kasong paglabag sa Republic Act 8293 o Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. (DDC)
