Food supply chain apektado ng pananakop ng China sa West PH Sea ayon sa Stratbase Expert

Ang presensya ng China sa West Philippine Sea ay nakakaapekto sa food supply chain, ayon sa isang eksperto.

Sa ginanap na forum na “Stratbase Albert Del Rosario Institute towards Beyond the Crisis – A Strategic Agenda for the Next President,” kinonekta ni Dr. Toby Monsod, propesor sa University of the Philippines School of Economics, ang Tsina sa food supply chain.

Ang naturang forum ay nagbigay ng pananaw kung paano dapat harapin ng administrasyon ni president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang iba’t ibang isyu katulad ng foreign policy at seguridad ng bansa.

Sa isang talakayan, sinabi ni Prof. Dindo Manhit, pangulo ng Stratbase ADR Institute at CEO at managing director ng Stratbase Group, na ang paglagi ng Tsina sa mga katubigan ng Pilipinas ay isa mga 10 mahahalagang isyu sa mga Pilipino.

“That we need to defend our territorial integrity, our maritime rights, that we have won [in the Hague],” wika niya.

Ayon naman kay Monsod, “I think we can connect, we may be able to connect more clearly now because of the global food issue which is driven by supply chain, destruction of the supply chain and, in fact, the threat in our area. For me the thing that hits you at the household level will destruct supply chain.”

Dagdag ni Monsod na makakaranas ang mga Pilipino ng “global food crisis” sa susunod na 12 buwan. Ayon sa kanya, “It’s a good opportunity to connect it to these issues because clearly we need those supply chains open and we cant have any threat there especially in our seas.”
